Sarnico (200 m.a.s.l.) is a beautiful, little town with approx. 6’500 inhabitants located on the southwest shore of Lake Iseo, where the waters of the lake flow out into the River Oglio towards the plain. 

Sarnico is highly appreciated for its charm by tourists all over the world. The walk along the lake promenade, called LungoLago, offers an incredible panoramic view. Along LungoLago you will find the departure point for the Lake Iseo ferries. In addition, many bars and restaurants invite guests to relax and enjoy the flavors of the local cuisine. Whether it is pizza, pasta, fish or meat, you will surely find something delicious.  The Town Hall, a modern style building, is located in Viale Roma 54. The bus for Bergamo leaves the bus station just next to the Town Hall. Important religious and historical buildings are located in the town center, such as the 15th-century chiesa di S. Paolo (St. Paul’s Church), with 15th- and 16th-century frescoes, the 18th-century parish church of S. Martino (dedicated to St. Martin of Tours) or the 15th-century Palazzo Gervasoni, which hosts the Museo Civico ‘Gianni Bellini’ (the Civic Museum). Of particular interest are also some Art Nouveau villas built between 1906 and 1912 by Milanese architect Giuseppe Sommaruga for the Faccanoni family. 

Sarnico has a weekly market every Thursday morning. It is full of stalls selling leather, clothing and souvenirs, but also fresh fruit or flowers. It is a cheerful place to search for a bargain or just to enjoy the vivid atmosphere. A bigger market of the same type is held in Iseo every Friday morning. You can either get a taste of the place as you browse through the market or enjoy a glass of wine from the Franciacorta area at one of the many bars in close proximity of the market.  During the hot summer period, the growing desire for something refreshing like a good ice cream may guide you to Piazza XX Settembre, where you can find the ice cream shop La Gatteria. They sell regular ice cream, but also soy milk ice cream, soft ice cream, frozen yogurt, smoothies, crepes, etc. A great variety of products and everything just tastes delicious. The ice cream parlor is open throughout the week, only closed on Wednesdays. At the lake front there are two more excellent ice cream parlors: La Gatta and Mej and a very nice playground for children. If you continue your way alongside the shore towards Predore you will find lovely beaches for your summer vacation. One of them is Lido Nettuno, with a large grass area, playground, beach volleyball court and a picnic area.
