The Expert for Lake Iseo

Pisogne

Pisogne is located at the south-east end of the Iseo Lake and has approx. 7’700 inhabitants. It has already been listed as one of the most picturesque communes of Italy for years. It belongs to the province of Brescia and its surrounding area was inhabited before primeval times, as a discovered “Pirogge” and rock paintings proof. The origin of the name “Pisogne” is not known, it might either be based on the roman term “Piso” or on the aristocratic name “Pisonius”.

The church Santa Maria della Neve offers beautiful renaissance frescoes from Girolam Romanino. From the tower “Torre del Vescovo”, which was built around the year 1250 and already then constructed with four floors, you have a wonderful view over the Lake Iseo. The inner of the church Santa Maria Assunta with its neo-classical style is as well worth a visit and when you walk through the narrow alleyways of the old town you sometimes feel like going back to the time of Renaissance or even the Middle Ages. The Lungolago of Pisogne invites for a nice walk and you can always take a break, enjoy the lake atmosphere and a cup of Espresso or Cappuccino. Additionally we recommend to have a look at the statue of the white horse „Il cavallo bianco di Govine“ at the entry of the commune or book a guided tour through the grotto “Quattro Ossi”.

If, after all those activities you get hungry, we recommend the GOEN Ristorante Pizzeria Long Drink. It was opened in spring 2015 and offers delicious meat and fish specialties, but as well risotto, pasta or pizza dishes. And don’t forget to close off your meal by trying their home made dessert! Luca and Sokol will welcome you personally in the GOEN.  Opened daily! Corso Zanardelli 15 (Localita Govine)       Tel: +39 0364 87229
